Best Time to Visit Pattaya: Month by Month

Updated June 2026 · 5 min read

The "best" time to visit Pattaya depends on what you're optimising for. Perfect beach weather and an electric atmosphere? Buttery-soft hotel prices and empty sand? They're in different months. Here's the year in three seasons, plus the two months savvy visitors quietly target.

The quick answer

For weather, November to February wins — cool, dry and around 25–32°C. But December and January are also the busiest and priciest. If you want that lovely weather without the peak-season scrum, aim for November or February.

Cool & dry season (November–February)

This is Pattaya at its best: low humidity, clear skies, comfortable evenings. It's ideal for the beach, island day-trips and walking the city. The trade-off is crowds and price — December and January, wrapped around Christmas and New Year, are the year's peak. November is a genuine sweet spot: the rains have just ended, everything is green and fresh, and the crowds haven't fully arrived. February is its mirror image as the peak eases.

Hot season (March–May)

Temperatures climb to the mid-30s with high humidity — beautiful by the pool, punishing by mid-afternoon. The headline event is Songkran, the Thai New Year water festival in mid-April, which in Pattaya stretches into the famous Wan Lai celebrations around the 18th–19th. It's a wild, joyous, soaking-wet few days; love it or plan around it. Outside Songkran, March and May offer good value as visitor numbers thin.

Green / low season (June–October)

The monsoon brings rain — but rarely the all-day washouts people fear. Expect short, heavy afternoon downpours that clear quickly, with the wettest stretch in September and October. The upside is real: the lowest hotel prices of the year, the quietest beaches, and a lush green landscape. If your budget matters more than guaranteed sunshine, this is your window.

The two underrated months: November (just after the rains, before the crowds) and February (great weather, peak prices fading). Both give you most of the high-season upside without the high-season downsides.

What about the sea?

Pattaya's beaches are swimmable year-round, but the water and visibility are clearest in the dry season. For the best beach days, the cool season delivers; in low season you're trading the occasional grey afternoon for half-price rooms.
